Line item quoting

Modified on Tue, 23 Apr at 8:41 PM

The “Your quote” section has been split into two brand new sections called “Introduce your quote” and “Your quote”, which is now split into Line items and Additional costs to make quotes simpler and easier to understand.

Introduce your quote:

This space for your to provide an introduction to the service you are offering, why you'd be great for the customer's event and what set-up you'll be using. We have introduced a 1000 character limit to ensure that quotes are concise and clear, with customers now able to see your profile alongside the quote your provide, giving them all the context and information they need in one place to pick the right supplier.

Line item quoting (Menu items & Additional quotes):

Quotes are now broken down into items to give customers a simplified view of what’s included in your quote. Each item has their own title, description and price which allows customers to see clearly what they’re booking and reduce the amount of questions they might have.

Line items are split into two types; Menu items and Additional costs.

Menu items can either be for an individual dish or a choice item. All menu items will be shown to customers as a full menu alongside your quote. This will help give the customer a proper understanding of what you can offer them and the ability to ask for alternative items without you have to send anything extra over messaging. Customers won’t be able to see the price per head in the full menu, only when items are used in quotes. If you decide to use choice’ items for quoting. We encourage you to still create individual items for all your flavours or types for the purpose of customers seeing a full menu with the quote.

Additional costs are line items where you can clearly state any costs outside of your food offering that comprises your quote (eg. Travel, Staffing, Accommodation).

Why have we changed it?

The feedback from both sides of the marketplace was that the ‘Your quote’ section was too vague. There was confusion in terms of what information should be included in a quote versus a message, leading to quotes of all different shapes and sizes, with varying quality and content.

For customers receiving quotes it was then sometimes difficult to interpret what suppliers were actually offering them for the price, and likewise difficult to then compare against other quotes and ultimately choose the best one for them with confidence & ease.

What do I need to do?

To start quoting in the new format, please ensure you complete your item library by either updating your legacy menu items for the new quote format, or add new items to show your full menu to clients. We recommend spending some time to complete this before you start quoting. Please refer to this guide or get in touch with the team for more help!
